I was in love... once... with a man that couldn't settle down.
It broke my heart, just following him all around.
I traveled 'round the globe - traversed the whole damn thing,
And I learned a thing or two. Let me tell you what I mean...
I followed him to Memphis. I followed him to Maine.
I followed him to small towns I will never see again.
I followed him to Paris, to London, Prague, and Rome,
Stockholm, and Madagascar - and I lost my ticket home.
I followed him to Moscow. I followed him to Spain.
I followed him through rain and sleet and snow and hurricane.
I tracked him down the Nile, and down the Amazon.
Across that River Jordan, into places no man's gone.
I visited Mt. Fuji, and scaled Everest.
I went in all directions, North and South and East and West.
I skimmed the Arctic Circle, and saw the Northern lights.
In Budapest and Thailand lanterns lit the evening sky.
Walked down the Eight-fold Path, and up the Haiku Stairs.
I followed right behind him; he never even cared.
I followed him to places I can't even pronounce.
I followed him - I followed him - he didn't care an ounce.
I watched Gibralter crumble; saw Stonehenge fall apart.
The pyramids in Egypt were softer than his heart.
I followed him by foot, by bicycle, and train,
By motorcycle, bus, car, donkey, camel, boat, and plane.
I saw the whole wide world, and I learned one simple truth:
IF YOU'RE GONNA BOTHER WITH A MAN,
MAKE SURE HE FOLLOWS YOU.
