My Glass Ain't Half Empty

My glass ain't half empty.  I drank the whole damn thing,
And if you're buyin' I'll take another round.
Bartender, make it something that you don't need to take
With a grain of salt to keep it down.
I'm tryin' to remember which way is up,
But I always end up crawlin' 'cross the floor.
Three bottles later, and another broken heart,
I drag myself out toward the door.

The streets are dark and lonely
As my footsteps echo around.
My heart swims in the gutter,
And my head begins to pound,
And I'm dancing to the sound.

I'm standin' on my last leg, and I will not fall
For the same old tricks again and again.
I simply grin and bear it, and wait for the winds to shift.
I know they will, just don't know when.
If I find a penny, should I pick it up?
Does it mean my luck'll change?
Or is the only meaning to a penny off the ground
That I'll have some money to my name?

The streets are dark and lonely
As my footsteps echo around.
My heart swims in the gutter,
And my head begins to pound,
And I'm dancing to the sound.

My glass ain't half empty.  I'm drinkin' from the tap,
And I'll go until that well runs dry.
Don't bother with my order.  Don't bother with the check.
Don't bother with good-bye.  Good-bye.
