Teresa's W-I-P's - Open Road

The highways lie abandoned - no travelers this way,
'Cause everybody's walking down the road less traveled these days.
They crowd onto the grass-edged trails and tear it at the roots.
They stomp on it and trample it in custom-fitted ostrich skin stiletto combat boots.

And I find that I am walking, and the streetlights are still on,
Though it's the middle of the day and everyone else is gone.
And I find that I am walking, and I am all alone
And although I'm on my way, I'm still so far from home.
